Board Function:
The State Election Board shall supervise and coordinate the work of the Elections Div of the Secretary of State's Office and of election superintendents, registrars, deputy registrars, poll officers and others so as to ensure uniformity in polling practices and procedures. May formulate and adopt election rules and regulations for the conduct of fair elections, may make recommendations to the General Assembly regarding necessary laws, and may investigate the administration of election laws, frauds, and irregularities and report violations to the Atty. General or Dist Atty. for prosecution.
Board Mission Statement:
The Elections Division works to ensure fair elections and facilitates statewide voter registration in accordance with state laws. By educating local officials and voters, the division plays a crucial role in keeping Georgia's elections fair and free from fraud.

Special Membership Requirements:
Board is composed of the Secretary of State as chairperson, an elector to be elected by a majority vote of the Senate at its regular session held in each odd-numbered year, an elector to be elected by a majority vote of the House at its regular session held in each odd-numbered year, and a member of each political party to be nominated and appointed by the state executive committee. Once nominated, the Governor shall appoint such nominee to serve for a term of two years from the date of the appointment and until his or her successor is elected and qualified, unless sooner removed. No person shall be eligible for nomination by the state executive committee unless he or she is an elector and a member in good standing of the political party of the committee. If any member of the board, other than the Secretary of State, shall qualify as a candidate for any public office, which is to be voted upon in, any primary or election regulated by the board, that member's position on the board shall be immediately vacated. No member of the General Assembly shall serve as a member of the board.
