CCC - 75th Year Anniversary
The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a work relief program for young men. Established on March 21, 1933 by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it was designed to combat unemployment during the Great Depression. The CCC became one of the most popular New Deal programs among the general public and operated in every U.S. state and several territories.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the CCC. The boys of the "Tree Army" will gather at Vogel State Park on Saturday, May 10 to tell their many stories of the New Deal era. There will be tours of the CCC Museum and a special emphasis on the New Deal era; a covered dish meal with meat and drinks will be provided.
Please RSVP by calling 706-745-2628. There is a $3 fee for parking.
Vogel State Park is located 11 miles south of Blairsville, Ga., via U.S. Hwy. 19/129.
