Do business with the state

Jul 11, 2002

The State of Georgia conducts business with many private-sector companies, known as vendors. Vendors compete by bidding against each other for state contracts. Contract areas range from which software company will be used to develop an application to which construction company or contractor will build new state buildings or roadways.

To become a vendor to the state, businesses must register with the state before they are allowed to enter bids for certain state accounts. To register, prospective vendors need to send their name, company name and e-mail address to doasbid@doas.ga.gov and the Bid Room will e-mail back an Internet address and a pass code for online registration.

There are several different types of bids, including information technology, statewide contracts, consulting, construction, commodities, services and miscellaneous bids.
