IT Expenditures Report

State agencies in Georgia spent $712.2 million on information technology in FY 2008, according to the latest State of Georgia IT Expenditures Report.  State funds accounted for $199 million of the total amount with the remainder coming primarily from the federal government.

The number of agencies providing information for the IT expenditures report grew to 51 in FY 2008 from 47 for FY 2007 and 39 for FY 2006.

Half of all IT expenditures, or $362.3 million, went to the Healthy Georgia policy area.

State law requires GTA to collect information about IT expenditures from agencies each year and compile a report for distribution to state leaders.  Its purpose is to ensure accurate budgeting and accounting for IT expenditures, which include staff, hardware, software, telecommunications, data services and computer supplies.
